About 80% of the items on pages 4 to 13 have sold. What tended not to sell were the knitting patterns I chose. I believe the effect of spinning wool is comperable - - if not better - - to the highly advertised Legxercise for folks suffering from a lack of circulation in their legs. If they need some extra stimulation for their hands and arms, spinning will give this too. Gentle movement.

https://legxercise.com/legxercise-pro/

While some wheels may cost close to $1000, I just found a newer spinning wheel on Etsy for a much more reasonable price. It's the Nona, sold on Etsy.com by Rodier Creations; it's less than $400 and has a beautiful tree of life motif on the hub. It also looks light weight which may be easier than others to take to spinning guild meetings.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/527409995/spinning-wheel-nona

Another sweet wheel is the Babe Production Wheel, two treadles. This is comparably priced around $400 and also light to carry. It's for sale on Etsy.com by TheSpinneryStore. For even less $ is the Babe's Fiber Starter Wheel.

Why I loved this wheel so much was its sensitivity when I spun my angora rabbit wool. I steam punked it up with cherry wood stain and bronze colored paint. I miss that wheel. One of my favorite sites is the Dairy Barn at the end of Main Street. That's where Las Aranas Spinning and Weaving Guild has its sale shop and demos. The demos include shearing sheep, spinning, carding, dying, and weaving. The members are friendly. While I won't be demonstrating or selling this year, I want to shop. It's a good place to pick up interesting gifts with a large range of prices.

http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheYarnMarm
Margaret Trousdale-Lombrozohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02675479040606933912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3587203555621519914.post-62221922532973091472022-08-21T15:34:00.002-07:002024-02-07T18:18:03.545-08:00Flag Wool & Fiber Fest
About four years ago, these two treasured indigenous women demonstrated their tradition of preparing and spinning wool at the Flag Wool & Fiber Fest.
